Entacom 200 mg
Entacapone is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Entacom. Entacapone is an inhibitor of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
Entacom is a drug that is used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease in combination with Levodopa and Carbidopa and helps in relieving the symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and poor muscle control.
Entacom consists of Entacapone that belongs to the class of drugs known as COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) inhibitors. Entacapone works by increasing the levels of levodopa and carbidopa in the brain, thereby helping to relieve the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Do not take the drug if you: are allergic to this active pharmaceutical ingredient Entacaponeor any other ingredient of the medicine; are having a severe hepatic impairment; are pregnant or planning to be pregnant in the near future; are a breastfeeding mother.
Tell your doctor if you: are having depression problem; have any kidney disease; have a history of any skin reactions such as rash, hives, itching; have any liver disease; have severe muscle weakness; have any heart disease or irregular heart beats; have the tumor of the adrenal gland
The dosage of Entacom depends upon your age, weight, your response to the treatment, and your medical condition. Therefore, your doctor will decide your correct dose. Take the dose exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Never take two tablets at one time ton double the dose.
Entacom is to be taken with the food or without the food as directed by your doctor. The tablet is to be swallowed with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. You should take the dose until you finish the prescription. Do not stop and change the dose even if you feel better. You should complete the prescribed dose. In case of an overdose, then contact your doctor right away or get emergency medical attention as soon as possible. If you miss a dose of Entacom, then take it as early as you remember. Never take the missed dose if the time to take the next dose is almost up. Taking multiple doses at almost the same time can lead to excess medication in your body which can be harmful.
Side effects of the drug: dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, Stomach pain and upset, difficulty breathing, and dizziness, confusion, and drowsiness are the common side effects of Dipyridamole. If any of these effects continues for a long time, contact your doctor immediately. Entacapone may rarely cause serious side effects such as nausea, high fever, hallucination, very stiff muscles, restless muscle movements of the eyes, unexplained muscle and joint pain, and dark color urine.
Do not use Entacom for any other disease without taking an advice from your doctor. Do not share Entacom with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms as you are having. In case you do not better and cured after completing the medication prescribed by your doctor, then consult your doctor immediately.
Store Entacom at room temperature. Do not freeze it.
